The Challenge

Buckeye faced challenges with their Medicare operations, including time-consuming NOA audit/submission processes and limited resources within the Medicare team, consisting of just one Medicare Billing Specialist and supervisor for six locations. Additionally, they encountered denial management issues due to a high volume of remittances. Delays with past due denials meant that, even when they identified issues for re-billing, they were past the corrected claim timely requirements and resulted in write-offs.

The Solution

Following the implementation of Element5 automation, Buckeye saw significant improvements across the board. The timely NOA submission rate increased to 100%. Additionally, there was a substantial drop of 34% in denial percentage, showing much-improved efficiency. This improvement also freed up more time for Accounts Receivable (AR) follow-up, resulting in fewer late claim submissions or appeals.
